Many people, especially future authors, have asked me about publishing my own book.
I went through all the regular channels to get HOW TO BE A ZEN MAMA published. I thoroughly researched agents and publishing companies. I got books out of the library. All the while I was writing, editing and finishing ZEN MAMA. I was having a great time doing just what I’d wanted to do since I was a little girl.
What I found is the most discouraging group of people. The message in the publishing world is this: You may not want to try because your book will never be published. If you want to send us something anyway, fine. We may not read it. And if we do, it will be 6-8 weeks from now. So sit around and wait. Don’t get excited. Don’t check you email or wait at the mailbox. Good luck!” And of course the “Good Luck” is said in a sarcastic voice.
I asked a friend of mine in the publishing business about this. A publisher friend of mine told me how much change publishing world is going through out there. He recommended trying self publishing.
I got back to researching and found several companies that self publish. My favorite turned out to be CreateSpace, a member of the Amazon group of companies. It is the place for independent artists to create, engage, distribute and sell their work in physical and digital form to a worldwide audience. With industry-leading technology, innovative tools and services, and on-demand production, CreateSpace helps authors, filmmakers and musicians realize the potential of their creative content. Media formats supported through CreateSpace include books, DVDs, CDs, video downloads, and MP3s.
I have had a great experience with this company and would love to answer any questions you have. Authors can self-publish and share the book with millions of readers through CreateSpace. CreateSpace offers authors many benefits as a publishing partner, including high royalties, low book pricing, and expanded distribution options. Your book is automatically listed on Amazon, which is a great benefit. Please email me at thezenmama (at) gmail.com and I’ll answer any questions you have.
Createspace has a great website. It has some wonderful training videos. You don’t have to join until you’re ready. You can click on the link below to find out more.

So glad I stopped by and saw this. I have been researching self-publishing a book. I was looking at Lulu, but they don’t offer all of the options I was hoping for. I’ll check out CreateSpace. Thanks!
And congratulations on your book!

I am going to do this.
I have submitted my children’s book with no interest from anywhere.
This is wonderful, and encouraging.
Thank you

I think you’ll love createspace! I’m on a book #3 and have nothing but good luck. The marketing is the only thing a little more difficult….slowly but surely Zen Mama is getting out there!!

Hi
I have also published a book via createspace and am about to release a revised edition.
My book is The Dance of Stillness. Great site and your book looks wonderful too, here we have just had our second child – little Grace Maria Rivers. My daughter Zoe (6yrs) loves writing too, I may be venturing into helping her publish a story. I agree with you on createspace, they are great. Its not all that hard, not exactly easy either but well worth it on many levels.
Peace
Dave

Hi Everyone,
Yes, CreateSpace is the place to go if you want to self publish. I think they made it really simple to publish your books and you get to buy copies of your own book while doing the editing rounds.
I actually submitted a copy for publishing but decided to pull out after two rounds of editing. Somehow, the book title did not feel right. But I have got a couple real stuff lined up soon.
“There is a good book in all of us.”
Cheers
