Happy 106th Birthday Dr. Seuss! He was born today in 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Dr. Seuss was quite a philosopher and gave kids (and their parents reading the books) advice about life without even the reader even knowing it. He wrote about living life, going after your dreams, being faithful to a friend, accepting people, thinking for yourself and tree conservation. He even got kids to try foods they didn’t like.
So enjoy some of Dr. Seuss’s wisdom below:
You have brains in your head
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose
You’re on you own
And you know what you know
You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
~Dr. Seuss
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened!
~Dr. Seuss
Today you are you, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who is youer than you.
~Dr. Seuss
I meant what I said and I said what I meant.
An elephant’s faithful, one hundred percent.
~Dr. Seuss
I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.
I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues.
~Dr. Seuss
You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So...get on your way!
~Dr. Seuss
Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store,
maybe Christmas means a little bit more.
~Dr. Seuss
You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know.
You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact and remember that
Life’s a Great Balancing Act.
Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right foot with your left.
~Dr. Seuss
Don’t give up! I believe in you all.
A Person’s a person, no matter how small!
And you very small persons will not have to die
If you make yourselves heard! So come one, now, and TRY!
~Dr. Seuss
Say!
I like green eggs and ham!
I do! I like them, Sam-I-am!
~Dr. Seuss
Today is gone. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.
~Dr. Seuss
So, make some green eggs for dinner tonight and remember the man who inspired us to save dust specks.
