Three guys, stranded on a desert island, find a magic lantern containing a genie.
The genie grants them each one wish. The first guy wishes he was off the island and back home --
and poof!, he is back home. The second guy wishes the same thing -- and poof!,
he is gone too. The third guy says, "I'm lonely. I wish my friends were back here."
Two cannibals were eating a clown. One said to the other:"Does this taste funny to you?"
One of the important parts of being a Zen Mama and getting closer to your kids is playing games and telling jokes! The appendix of my book, HOW TO BE A ZEN MAMA, contains jokes and riddles for all ages and some dinner table games. One of the ways we got closer was to keep the kids at the dinner table. Games and jokes worked! Plus it usually starts some good conversations.
We have many games we play, but here is a new one, “What would you bring to a deserted island?” It can’t be a mode of transportation to get off the island. Of course, for me, nothing but food is coming. We’ll be gourmets while awaiting rescue. There’s only one rule...You can only bring ten things. And of course you have an endless supply of what you bring until you’re rescued.
Here’s what I’d bring so we could have fantastic meals:
-
•A Hen: Yes eggs are truly the perfect food along or as a part of a recipe.
-
•Cheese: Any kind will do!
-
•onions: Great with everything.
-
•Potatoes: I’m a potato-a-holic
-
•Milk: to mix with potatoes, eggs or coffee
-
•Coffee: couldn’t go anywhere without my coffee
-
•flour: I couldn’t live without fresh bread. Plus you could make pasta with an egg and some flour.
-
•butter: Those who know me are aware that I consider butter the key to Happiness. Besides I’d need butter to with my fresh bread.
-
•Lemon: everything tastes better with a little lemon.
-
•Tomatoes: Tomatoes are also great with everything.
These ingredients would make all sorts of great combinations: eggs dishes, including Eggs Benedict or quiche. Pasta noodles with fresh veggies. All sort of potato dishes. Fresh bread slathered with butter to go with our pasta. Of course coffee in the morning as we contemplate life on an island. I had to leave out meat. I’m not a vegetarian at all! I’m very sad about that and tempted to exchange the tomatoes with...I don’t know! But I’ll have a juicy steak when I’m rescued. That’s the fun of this game!!
What would you bring to the island? Once a week, I will post a new game and some jokes to go with them to play with your family. Let me know how it goes.
